In the heart of one of the world's most iconic academic cities, Meet Cambridge proudly marks a significant milestone - its 25th anniversary of creating exceptional event experiences. With an impressive portfolio of world-class venues, Meet Cambridge has been instrumental in procuring a diverse range of events, from international conferences and symposiums to workshops and team building retreats.
Join us in celebrating Meet Cambridge's remarkable 25-year journey, as they continue to connect venues and events for another 25 years.
What does the 25th birthday mean to Meet Cambridge?
It’s a huge achievement to reach our silver anniversary! During the pandemic, when the business events industry fell off a cliff, we didn’t know quite what would happen so it’s amazing to see here in our 25th year that the industry has not only bounced back, but we’re also taking more enquiries that ever! It’s also wonderful to see that the Colleges that founded the organisation, still support Meet Cambridge to this day and that the venue portfolio has grown over the years to include other unique venues and hotels in and around the city.
What are you looking forward to in the upcoming years?
Working with even more organisers to help them bring their events to the city. We know that there are challenges ahead, especially environmental but we do feel that business events are hugely beneficial, and they bring so much more than simple economic impact to the table so we’re looking forward to seeing events that incorporate positive change, that have an impact and that create opportunities for legacy beyond the events themselves.
Have you got any other big milestones coming up?
Not that we are aware of, but we have just had our busiest year in terms of enquiries, with 3590 enquiries sent to our members. This is a 20.8% increase on 21-22 and a 28.5% increase on 18-19, the last full ‘normal’ year!
How did Meet Cambridge come about?
Meet Cambridge was founded as Conference Cambridge in 1998 by a group of Colleges that recognised the need for a centralised service to handle enquiries for events and to market Cambridge and its Colleges as the place to host a business event. In 2016, Conference Cambridge was rebranded to Meet Cambridge and the portfolio was extended to include hotels, museums, and other unique venues in and around the city. Today, we also offer a range of free services through the Cambridge Ambassador Programme to help academics and business people bid for and host international events, and through our partnership with Opening Doors & Venues, we also offer a suite of event management services too.
Fitzwilliam College takes pride in offering a stunning and versatile venue for a wide range of events. From academic conferences and seminars to corporate meetings and social gatherings, our college provides an inspiring setting that fosters creativity and collaboration. Nestled in the heart of Cambridge, our historic and picturesque campus feathers modern facilities equipped to accommodate both intimate gatherings and larger-scale events.
Our team at Fitzwilliam College is dedicated to ensuring every event is a resounding success. With a reputation for personalised service and attention to detail, we work closely with Meet Cambridge to understand your event requirements and tailor our offering accordingly.
